Amy B: Queen of Parkrunning

I’ll start with this breaking news from Cramond on Saturday:

Despite a history of rocky relationships with early morning park runs, Amy Bristow made it third time lucky as she completed the 5k course without throwing up in 23:19, knocking 53 seconds off her previous PB, despite the treacherously icy conditions.

An enormous congratulations is due to our Social Sec. The weather was certainly less than ideal at this week’s parkrun, with large ice puddles and frosty tarmac. Many legs quickly tired from trying to stay upright, but despite this, every Harie performed admirably and placed highly.

As reported above, Amy did especially well, coming in 15th lady. Freya was very close behind, by only 2 seconds in fact. Hannah Mason (no relation to the “poor at best”1 Callum) soon followed, with a time of 24:38. Bringing up the rear was Rachel Stewart, in 28:59, who was very proud to be the first 18/19 year old lady. Meanwhile, over at the Perth parkrun, Sarah Douglas came 3rd overall, with an amazing time of 18:42!

At the front end of the Cramond race the Haries also performed excellently. Scott was 2nd in 16:57, whilst John and myself were 5th and 6th, in 18:11 4and 18:15 respectively. Fraser soon followed 5 seconds later in 8th, whilst Callum Shaw was 14th. Jasper strode across the line in 19:26, coming a respectable 24th, and Lyle also ran well with a time of 20:12. (I’m also going to give a shout out here to everyone’s favourite interval Guru, James Jarvis, who was 16th with a time of 19:14). New Harie, Jonathan Mason (again, no relation) proved his worth with a decent time of 21:07.

At the Devil’s Burdens Hill Race, Cap’n Georgia snuck in and ran in a brown vest of our friends, HBT. Racing under the pseudonym “Gavin Schmidt”, she was 2nd lady for her leg, a 5.5km hill run, which she did in 33:07. her team (Hoppy Beer’s Tremendous!) came 41st overall, out 123 teams.

That’s all for this week, I hope this report proved both informative and entertaining. Now, bring on BUCS and SU Ball! It’s going to be a great week.

All The Frigging Best
