Ex-Haries Megan Crawford and Pat Gie, as well as current Harie Amy Harkness, took on the legendary Loch Ness marathon last weekend. Not only is the marathon revered as one of the most beautiful in the United Kingdom, taking runners along the south eastern shores of Loch Ness; it is also well known for its hilly nature. Not that this stopped records being well and truly broken!
Megan Crawford, who currently runs for Fife AC, broke the course record with a time most can but dream of: 2 hours and 44 minutes and 50 seconds, beating the previous record set by Central AC’s Jenn Watson 12 months ago.
Pat Gierjatowicz , currently a member of the mighty HBT, became Scottish marathon champion and 3rd overall with a stunning time of 2 hours and 27 minutes and 47 seconds. Such results are testament to the incredible amount of time and effort Megan and Pat devote to their training; a huge congratulations to them both!
Yet it wasn’t only the older generation of Haries that took on Nessie. Current Harie Amy Harkness ran the course in an impressive time of 4 hours and 24 seconds, and can be proud of representing the Haries and her hard work. What an incredible day of racing and memorable occasion for Haries old and new! Training hard and embracing Scottish running really does pay off.
